An Exceptionally Rigorous Testing Laboratory
To ensure the complete satisfaction of our customers and guarantee that they can enjoy their products for many years to come, we have integrated a wear and strength testing laboratory into our research and development department. All our products are put to the test!
At Cornilleau, our R&D center includes a testing laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art technology to ensure that every product meets the highest standards of quality and durability—surpassing market expectations. Most tests (UV exposure, humidity, resistance, etc.) are carried out in-house, enabling faster and more efficient cycles of innovation and improvement.
The Range of Tests Conducted in Our Laboratories
UV and Color Fading Resistance Test
The UV resistance test involves subjecting samples of fabrics, wood, and plastic materials to alternating cycles of rain and high-temperature drying (65°C), all under continuous light irradiation similar to sunlight exposure.
This accelerated test, lasting at least 3 months (or 1,660 hours), is extremely demanding and replicates what our product would endure if it were exposed outdoors for one year without any protection in Florida. To ensure even greater durability, we extend these accelerated tests over a full year.
With consistently positive results, we can guarantee unmatched resistance of the materials used in Cornilleau products.
Mechanical Resistance Test
The mechanical resistance test we perform on the fabric used for our pool table cloths is also known as the tear test. To carry it out, we use a dynamometer.
This device measures the force required to tear a piece of fabric that has been pre-cut with an incision. This allows us to reliably assess the strength of our fabrics and provide our customers with durable, high-quality products.
To certify the durability of our products, we conduct this test not only on new fabric samples but also on samples that have previously undergone all other test phases (UV and color resistance, aging, etc.).
Anti-Corrosion Test
The anti-corrosion test is used to evaluate the metal components of the pool table by subjecting them to accelerated aging in a salt spray chamber to assess their resistance to oxidation.
This process allows us to confirm the durability of our products and their suitability for even the most demanding environments.
Aging Tests
Beyond our laboratory tests, our products are also tested outdoors on our site, in an open area where they are exposed throughout the seasons to wind, rain, sun, snow, and frost.
We allow the products to age without any protection in order to confirm their resistance under all conditions.
Guaranteed Repairability
Every component, material, and mechanism is rigorously tested in our laboratories.
This allows us to offer solid warranties — 5 years on all our pool tables. And with minimal maintenance, they can last much longer. Like all Cornilleau products, they are repairable thanks to spare parts that remain available for at least 20 years after purchase.
This guaranteed repairability is built into the design phase of our products. Unlike some competitors, our pool tables are made with cushions that can be easily disassembled and replaced when needed, ensuring an excellent quality of play throughout the product’s lifetime.

UV and Color Fading Resistance Test
Virtually no fading: less than a 0.9 coefficient after 3 months, and still below that threshold after 12 months of testing.

Mechanical Resistance Test
Mechanical resistance is tested at different stages of the fabric’s lifespan. We naturally test the strength of the coatings when new, but also after an intensive aging period of 3 months, and again after one year.
During this time, the fabrics are subjected to natural aging, UV resistance tests, color fading tests, and more.
Through these tests, we have found that the force required to tear the fabric used on Cornilleau pool tables is higher than that required to perform the same test on our competitors’ fabrics.
Furthermore, after a full one-year aging cycle, we observed a 60% loss of strength in competitors’ fabrics, whereas the fabric used by Cornilleau showed no loss of resistance over the same period.
